Who are you?
You do not know me,
nor do you care to.
Life is full of
superficial people
with plastered on smiles
and polite conversation.
Their thoughts miles away
as they nod their heads
to words unheard.
You can’t be honest;
they don’t want to hear it,
especially
those things that make them feel,
or question their reality.
Life is easier to get through
if you just close your eyes
and continue walking.
Don’t stop to look and see
if there is really a person
behind those hollow eyes.

Yes, I agree! Thank you for spending some of your day checking by…. I really appreciate it!
Very true..
This is a very impressive poem, Keli! I enjoyed it – and again, together with the piece of art it’s very special! Well done!
Love your blog!! Thank You!
Glad you enjoyed it
….. Thanks for stopping by!
Wonderful and very touching poem! And the painting fits well with words… the eyes seem so real. I love watching the pictures and paintings you choose cause I love painting women. Thanks you for sharing.
Thank you Nadyess! I appreciate your kind words, but to me, my words would be naked without the beautiful art or photographs. There are so many amazing artists that people aren’t aware of… I just hope this makes people become more familiar with the world of art and possibly acquire some for their homes…
That picture touched me Keli, my eldest sister took an overdose in 87. They were her eyes staring at me.
Laurie
Thank you Laurie. I’m sorry it touched you in a sad way, but I really love this artist’s style. The eyes do look penetrating and full of thoughts…. Thanks for the touching comment!
Thanks Keli, I don’t mind getting in touch with my feelings. it surprised me that’s all. keep the coming.:-)
This resonates. We all feel like this at time… too many times and yet I look into green eyes filled with so much and it makes it worth the effort and yet this poem is wonderfully engaging.
Such a tough question! Imho, you have quite a gift for poetry and even finding the perfect art to display with it.
Thank you Chris! That’s very kind of you to say. I appreciate the compliment
Thanks for stopping by for a visit and leaving me such a nice surprise…
I like this poem. This poem invites us to introspection.
Greetings from Indonesia.
Exactly… I get caught up in introspection quite frequently, but it’s nice to have someone else have it touch them in that way. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such kind words. I’ll try to return the favor as soon as possible. Namaste ~
Que bueno ! Another winner.
Later…
Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it. Kind words left by visitors are always appreciated
I’ll try to get by your place again soon. I’m running between 2 different homes for my parents (both having problems) so some days I can, and some days I can’t.
No expectations here. Life can be trying, and yours sounds difficult at the moment. I just like your posts.

Very good , appropriate for the time we live in . Fortunately there are some real and honest people left in the world .
I like real and honest people…. even if I don’t necessarily agree with them, at least we know where we stand with each other and that’s a start. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your thoughts Steve. I appreciate it!
agreed. some user named “wienerleg” is demanding that I explain my work on another site … I don’t mean that to be inappropriate. Just sharing in your frustration.
Both poem and art.
Thanks… I think… LOL
