If you give your heart’s devotion,

you risk,

losing  all your Dreams.

There is no magic potion,

for a Life of guarantees

It seems,

that while I hold you,

you know I hold your heart

I only want your honesty,

and have

right from the start.

I shield your Soul from sadness

and protect your broken Heart.

I calm your apprehensions

and

caress your fears unmarked.

Unselfish love I give you

for a moments treasured touch.

Your Dreams are known are my Dreams,

your  Love is worth so much.

Desire for love

 is Human Truth,

from cherished moments past.

with all my Hopes protected,

in you, my Trust is cast.

  1. How in the world did I miss this? You and your lovers… I’m going to dare you: write something mysterious or maybe faith inclined… LOL. :D Your imagination is bottomless and your talent blows rooftops, but you don’t need me to tell you that! ;) Honey, you’re so eloquent when you write about caresses and kisses… lost loves. I want a little twist! I need a little twist! You’re too sweet for your own good.

  2. Beautiful poem… “caress your fears unmarked”… what a wonderfully evocative phrase. I was in just such a place lately and wrote about it yesterday. It’s a funny thing that happens when you find your experience in someone else’s words… Be well~

    • No problem on the shout out… I loved the book and think anyone who likes YA books or has young readers who enjoy good, paranormal mysteries without the sexual overload would really enjoy it!
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit and leave me a comment! :D I appreciate it!

    • :D Well, You are certainly welcome to, just remember that I’m in a completely different league than you…. not so sure I’ll ever catch up, but it’s fun for me to try. Thanks for the kind words and the visit! :D

      • Though I take this as a compliment, I also must protest; for I am no more than a man deeply in love. I have as poor an education–particularly in the humanities–as the very worst of us. Even when compared to those poor souls graduating from the re-education camps public schools of today. I simply took it upon myself to learn a few things. Mostly these were things in which I was interested. For me, Love=sonnet writing. I appear to be perhaps, something I am not, simply because I am of advanced years, and I have, along the line somewhere learned such terms wherein I might describe myself as autodidactic instead of self-educated. Such words sometimes dazzle, but since I have come to love wordplay, I do try to point out that such things as ‘autodidactic’ and ‘self-taught’ mean the same thing. Poetry like any writing, is enhanced by reading and writing a variety of things. I have no native gift with words. Quite the contrary. Most people, particularly women (on average) have better neural arrangements for making verbal connexions than do I.

What I do have that not everyone has, is a long history of being crazy in love with a literature nerd. My sweetheart loves classical literature–and reads it much more easily than do I. But I love her enough to learn what she loves. And sonnets seemed to be the ultimate expression of that world, and of such a love as I describe. That’s how it all started. I believe I was exactly 21 years old, in fact.

    • :D Thank you! Sometimes if we don’t take the chance we will miss out on a blessing…. We just have to be open to taking the chance. We might fall on our face or we might find the love of our life! I appreciate your kindness in stopping by and leaving such a nice comment! :D
